少女回过神来，发现自己正身处于一片陌生的幽暗密林中。
就在她被突然出现的怪物袭击的危急时刻，一名少年蓦然跳出，以毛笔代刀，斩杀了怪物。

少年自称“黑笔”，以熟稔的口气称少女为“白姬”。
但是少女对少年的样貌以及他对自己的称呼都毫无印象。
这也是因为，少女已经丧失了所有记忆。

据黑笔所言，这里是绘本中的世界——“徒花乡”。
所有的“故事”都如同一场幻梦，无论如何深陷其中，一旦醒来都会消失无痕。
因此，这个世界被比喻成即使开花也不会结出果实的徒花并由此得名。
而两人的任务就是，游历于这里的故事世界，察看故事情节是否出现了偏差扭曲。
